Uhhh idk? Lots of parents are equally as horrified that their child might be dating someone who's openly married as they would be finding out their kid is gay. Also gay ppl have the right to marry now, poly people do not. Also no poly representation in media, also

iirc rates of gay acceptance in the us is way higher than poly acceptance. I personally feel significantly less safe as a poly person than I do as a bisexual

Being gay isn't for everyone either, but we still let them get married, and I would have asked anti-gay ppl to still support gay marriage.

And also I want to reiterate - regardless of your personal support, I absolutely consider polyamory to be an oppressed class similar to homosexuality, as someone who has extensive experience being publicly both.

I know ppl who would absolutely love to marry but are legally prohibited from doing so. they get as close as they can - wedding ceremonies and referring to each other as husband/wife but will never get the legal rights. That is deeply sad to me

yeah I'm fine with that, I'm not fine with preventing other ppl from lifestyles you disagree with. Its fine if you don't wanna be poly! But I'd very strongly argue that this is not a good reason to prevent other people from marrying each other because you personally disagree
