Uhhh idk? Lots of parents are equally as horrified that their child might be dating someone who's openly married as they would be finding out their kid is gay. Also gay ppl have the right to marry now, poly people do not. Also no poly representation in media, also

iirc rates of gay acceptance in the us is way higher than poly acceptance. I personally feel significantly less safe as a poly person than I do as a bisexual

Also iirc poly parents are significantly more at risk of losing custody of their children because they're poly, and polyamory often is considered a violation of morality clauses in employment scenarios.
