I think his approach was kind of stupid, and a bit excessive, but I think the attention and ire he's getting is too much. I think people commenting that some people learn differently than others, which may be useful information for him, but he doesn't need it imparted w/ rage

I think there's a difference, from a child's perspective, between "I solved this problem on my own because I wanted / needed to" and "I solved this problem alone while dad watched and refused to help". The former is a confidence builder. The latter I'm less sure about.

Certainly don't like his approach, I think just explaining and showing would give the same result with far less frustration. But we can't judge if he is good dad or not and just like everything else in here it's being blown way out of proportion. He's today's target of the mob.
