Majority answered above, either this is a selection bias—people who follow you are smart, or as always people over estimate their capabilities ie Dunning-krugger effect. Asking for their profession or SAT score is better, although still not that much accurate either.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to consider your audience is largely composed of people with above average intelligence, that describes 50% of the population and there’s no reason to assume a normal distribution here (why would an IQ 80 be reading your stuff)

Either way, 1250 SAT and 159 LSAT, didn’t study for either of them. I’m confidently above average, confidently can say I’m not brilliant or near genius level. Could not hack it as an engineer or doctor. Maybe if I had better work ethic, even then it would be a massive struggle
