More crazy California news. Legislature is considering a wealth tax on residents, part-year residents, & anyone person who spends more than 60 days in the state. Those who move out of state will still be subject to tax for ten years.

Not if you can loby the government to bail you out everytime - government/tax payers money is effectively insurance for companies now.

Sowell has a good argument in his book basic economics for this about how it's a tradeoff however I don't think I'd call it sane

There are plent of things government does better than private industry. Also, you can lie, cheat, and steal to get ahead in a competitive world too. Is that more sane? Neither private businesses nor government are intrinsically bad or good.
