I've moved cities on average 1.3x year since I reached adulthood, and without fail ppl will look at the city in my bio, assume I grew up there, and then insult me based on stereotypes of that city, no matter which city it is.

Fun fact, moving cities is surprisingly rare! Roughly three quarters of Americans live in the same area they grew up.

Just like someone born and raised in Seattle to tweet a tweet like this one 🙄

When “St. Louis” was in my bio I got called out for it all the time. Then I moved to NYC and suddenly nobody thought I was a fucking moron based on where I live. I didn’t know I’d get way smarter just by moving! But I guess I got way more awesome and I barely had to do anything!

I grew up in the Midwest, now I live in Portland, so I know what you mean.
They act like living somewhere means you support every crazy/objectionable thing that happens in that city
