Ancient cultures did not magically share our magnanimous values, they did not get enlightened or spontaneously do feminism. History is not a romantic affirmation of what we believe today, it was uglier and messier and more complicated than we think.

Ehhhh you've got it wrong on the pyschadelics. More and more evidence of exactly that. Also plenty of documented matriarchal cultures in Africa alone, although defining 'matriarchal' makes who is and isn't tricksy.

There is evidence of matrilineal cultures. There is certainly NOT ‘plenty’ (or in fact any) known evidence of a matriarchal culture. In Africa or anywhere else. If you have some evidence please share with the class.
