I'm kinda uncomfortable with the government shutting everything down due to covid. I get why, but i mean... the government was telling us not to wear masks for a while, I'm not comfortable with their judgment calls being used to forcefully remove people's livelihoods.

Except they didn't say that, they said that masks didn't help. Lying about health stuff in order to prevent a shortage is not ok.

No, SOME in the beginning (almost a year ago) didn't see the benefit. Others did. Don't group "the government" into one hive mind entity. When you ignore nuance, your bias shows. Since then the VAST majority have all concluded on the same basic precautions - including masks.

The Surgeon General, Fauci himself, and many official government sources specifically advised against masks at first. This was the government's official stance at the time. Please don't gaslight people in Twitter comments. Hopefully there is some footage of their words still up.

I remember buying masks for myself and my family back when masks were discouraged and you would get made fun of for even considering wearing a mask. This might have been February?
