Given how much ppl around me seem to be into leaving to form their own communities, I'm sorta surprised I haven't yet heard any black people suggest moving en masse to a predominantly black country to make their own city there, given how displeased they are about the US.

I mean the lack of the financial resources is probably kind of big reason

Every now and then I see people commenting in some of the education-related groups I'm in that Black/BIPOC communities should segregate themselves for their own benefit. Then there's pushback and they delete the comment.

I wish they wouldn't. This seems to be the most honest consequence of relevant ideology. How can a multicultural non-assimilationist society every achieve the sort of equity they desire/demand?

(Admittedly fairly ignorant on this topic, but) I think packing up and starting your own community takes a lot of money, connectedness, and security - things that are going to be in shorter supply among oppressed people. Also a tension w/abandoning those who can’t come.

I mean, sure, but a lot of the black people I hear who are very upset with the US definitely have the resources to move if they want to. And maybe it's not enough, but I still am surprised I haven't even heard it mentioned.

I think that may be a misconception. There is a significant group of black soldiers which stay in other countries after their service. So they do not necessarily advocate or be vocal about it, they just do it. Maybe a lived reality while a lot of white people still contemplate it

Not outside of the country, but there was this news story earlier this year:https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/12/us/freedom-black-cooperative-toomsboro/index.html …
