Often, beautiful people downplay their own beauty. If you complain about how you don't like x feature, your beautiful friend might be like "I totally get it, I hate a feature about me too." This is kinda annoying, and also how I feel about productive people. 1/

Some part of me wants to go "no you DON'T get it. you're acting like you get it but you have obviously accomplished big projects and so I don't trust you or your advice for me" even though I know this response is a little silly.

And in an even more silly move, I suspect sometimes I'm unproductive in an attempt to prove to more productive people that I'm actually worse than they are, that they weren't really listening to me. I want them to go "Wow, Aella, that sucks, I had no idea."

It's how many of us were taught to sympathize. It's difficult or near impossible to truly understand what another person is going through, so comparing your struggles to something related that they've gone through is just a way of demonstrating some level of mutual understanding.

I'm a productive person that lives with a procrastinator. I have the opposite problem where I have to bite my tongue when she complains because I just don't get it
. It's trying to remember she just needs me to listen, not give advice or try to relate to her frustrations. -
Also I saw your tweet about being dragged around by a weight you have to throw forward and I just want to plug
@TeamUfYH for a second, I think you might find their methods less burdensome.

I believe that! If you were like "Aella, I see you as more productive than me, I can't do x y z" i'd be like "yeah ok maybe you're right." I *do* have friends I think are actually more unproductive than me and I'm really careful how I respond to them
