My brain is definitely starting to process "yt" as a racial slur, I only ever get called that when people are trying to dismiss me as bad because of my race

White people thinking that racial slurs work this way is hilarious, I mean I guess it makes sense if you also don't believe systemic oppression actually exists and racism is just defined only as overt racism, aka slurs. Yeah I guess I can understand why you would think this.

I think that using a pejorative term to dismiss or insult somebody based on their race is a racist thing to do. This has nothing to do with my belief in systemic oppression

If you understand that we live in a heavily systemically biased system and operate with that knowledge - the idea of being racially biased against white people is kind of hilarious. Like basically a moot point. Prejudice towards white people is not the same as racism against POC.

Only according to the definition of racism you are using. Aella is using the word "racism" in the simple sense of prejudice against someone because of their race. You can't have a meaningful discussion if you define key terms in different ways. It makes your tweet a non sequitur.

Also there is difference between the amount of racism directed at a group and racism experienced on an individual level. If a black person is murdered for being black is that really worse that a white person being murdered for being white?

Even if it were true that a black person being called a racist slur is worse than a white person being called a racist slur, racist slurs are still bad regardless of the race identity of the race of target.

Again this is not true if you really understand/comprehend that America is a systemically racist nation - the premise of all slurs being equal falls on its head in that context. A context that most white people do not understand either willingly or unconsciously.

No one said all slurs are equal. The original comment by Aella was that she believed YT was a racial slur. Racial: pertaining to race Slur: a negative insinuation or insult.

This is a nice piece that takes a middle of the road position - on an individual level it is bad to make prejudiced statements but on a systemic one i can understand why POC would be compelled and as a white person it doesn’t offend me.https://www.dailyprincetonian.com/article/2019/05/a-few-thoughts-on-racism-towards-white-people …

It does offend me. It might not offend you but I am offended by racial slurs, and I'd appreciate if you didn't try to insinuate I shouldn't be offended.
