I've silently muttered in my mind "did you not read my resume?" at every job I've ever had. It's just something that happens.

I mean, it really depends on the context. The most common is me is at work. I would say that most people accurately estimate my competence but the split is like 50 accurate/30% underestimate/overestimate.

depends on the context in which they meet me and what type of competence we’re discussing
as i’ve grown people’s estimation of my competence has increased faster than my actual competence has increased (and at some point recently the estimate eclipsed the reality)
