Conversation

I have pretty strange and strongly wired in abnormalities in how and when I communicate with other people and I don't know how to quickly convey to them that no the reason for me behaving this way is because my brain is weird, it's not because of you at all.

I often end up having semi awkward conversations where I have to quickly explain "no I'm just like this. No that's not an excuse to hide a more normal reason, I actually do this to everybody."

Some things: I can't have one on one conversations unless there's an explicit goal, and no you can't just make one up. There's 50% chance I'll respond to your msg, even if it's great and I like you. Also I need to figure out why we're talking, explicitly and out loud, right now.

I'm curious. Do you think this is a trait that you could effectively teach yourself to combat (assuming you see it as a negative). For example high functioning autistic people teaching themselves to recognize nonverbal cues, not monopolizing conversations, etc.

Simply because it's pleasurable to do so. Isn't that goal enough. But if that's not there for both parties, then normally the conversation doesn't continue.

I'm trying to remember what I was doing in la 4 years ago and... Idk? But I am capable of having spontaneous good one on one conversations! It's much easier for me if it's spontaneous actually, because I don't feel like someone is actively trying to talk to me and I can leave.
