Some people talk very precisely - a sentence means exactly what they said, and they might not agree with a sentence worded slightly differently. Other people talk vaguely - a sentence means that all similar-sounding ideas are bundled into the same concept. 1/

I experience similar situations fairly often. It's frustrating how quick people are to assume broader meanings and motivations for the clear, specific statement you just made.

Sadly, I think this ability to question a system or judgment on the logic or principal is not very common as it's a learned skill. I remember trying to have a chat with friends about incest and two of them refused to engage as "it's wrong. I don't need to question it."

If someone signs a document that they want their body to be fucked after they’re dead, then that’s between them and the necrophiliac. Otherwise, a body is sovereign. My morals shouldn’t be the standard. It’s consent, and the rights of individuals.

I can relate. It's one of the reasons I like twitter, but it's frustrating when people in the other camp come along....

That's part of the problem. Most people don't or can't follow ideas to a logical conclusion. They also have trouble separating their emotional reactions to ideas from the practical realities of that idea. Feels over reals is flippant but sadly accurate.

I think you’re misreading other people here. You’re getting pushback because moral intuition is not what people feel about necrophilia, its more similar to them to say a biological aversion to eating feces. There’s nothing moral to engage with, its just purest form of disgust

Like I think rape is disgusting but I can engage with the idea of “If I were in the Hun army and everyone around me was doing it” yada yada. But there’s no intellectual or social scenario equivalent for necrophilia that’s not an insane stretch.
