How did we get to a point where we think that the minimum amount you get paid from a company should also be enough to pay half of an average two-bedroom apartment? Why is it not "the minimum possible wage should pay for splitting a room in a lower end apartment"?
Is it not? If you move outside of a major city and buy a small house it's not that hard right?

It’s really not that simple though. Affordable housing is a huge issue all over North America. No one working full time should need 3-4 room mates to survive.

For example where I live I’d have to travel quite far to find an ‘affordable’ house (500 k easy) to purchase and that isn’t logical for me. Yet my grandparents bought a home here for 80k that sold for 700. Wages haven’t matched inflation at all. So many people work multiple jobs

My parents bought a house for 120k in 2010 (still not paid off tho) and they did have to travel far to buy it. And wages haven't matched inflation but I thought that those calculations don't include the intense rise in stuff like jobs providing health benefits
