How the hell do people stay productive? My brain occasionally and randomly just decides to stop giving me any motivation to do anything for days to sometimes weeks at a time. Do other ppl with normal lives not have this happen? What is wrong with my brain?

Depression can mean a lot of things, and sometimes the word itself can come with too much baggage to be a useful label. But that doesn’t mean that common treatments for it, such as therapy or habitual changes, can’t still be useful even without the label.

Well, there's a wide range if depressive symptoms from mild to severe, but generally, changes in eating, sleeping, activity and motivation. Also, often, a skewed outlook in which one sees things through a negative lens. Sometimes in severe depression, suicidal thoughts.

It's not always necessary to label symptoms, but it can be helpful to know there are things you can do to feel better, including, physical excercise, sunlight, therapy and pharmaceuticals.
