So many cults have been popping up in my social circles, among really smart and emotionally mature people I know, what the hell is happening? Have cults always been going on this strong or is there something new in the water?

I've been pretty hesitant to call things cults, as I'm very open and often really love communities that fuck around with norms and look real weird. I'm not using the term lightly here - 3/4 of the cults I know of have ppl who reported getting serious trauma from the experiences

Do you feel pressure against voicing concerns with leaders or objecting to what other ppl in the group believe? Do you feel your own way of viewing things suppressed? Do the groups have negative stories associated with ppl who leave the group or disagree? Do you feel insane or
