My mentions are full right now of people saying "sex isn't a need" and if a man's wife stops having sex with him, he'd better get used to masturbation.
This is... Such a heartless take. Sex is similar in need to social acceptance, and nobody is this angry about social acceptance.

Surely that, unless the intimacy stopped because of health conditions, it's a sign that something has gone wrong in the relationship? How is "well he can go masturbate" the end of the conversation?
Please tell me I just missed several paragraphs/tweets where this was discussed!

Sometimes people lose their sex drive due to natural body changes and aging. I've gone through hormonal periods where I didn't want to have sex at all and that wasn't a sign something was wrong in the relationship

It’s funny how invested people who have never been married are in what marriage should look like.

Are the people saying “sex isn’t a need”... are they men? Are they non-castrati, able-bodied men? Because I have a hard time imagining healthy adult men trivializing the need for sex.

She isn't "a man's wife".
She is an autonomous woman, and if she doesn't want to have sex, she doesn't want to have sex.
She shouldn't be pressured. Pressuring someone is wrong and abusive. #MeToo

This is the exactly why monogamy is morally and emotionally bankrupt. Arguably it has been this way for at least a century.

Having a husband who doesn't fuck other people isn't a "need" either so I'm not sure what their point is

If someone’s spouse started to refuse talking to them about anything but logistics, would that be acceptable?
Don’t think so.

This is the kind of people who see sex as a weapon and a means to exert power.
