True. I would think there are probably some circumstances in which it could be abuse, but too nuanced to say it generally. I think sex is important in a healthy marriage, but not if one party doesn't want to do it.

And I would say the same of affirmation of love. It's sad if that and sex aren't in a relationship, but nobody would ever want those things out of duty or obligation. Perhaps it's someone recognizing they've built something that is failing...not to say it couldn't be salvaged

It's extremely weird that you put being "told you're beautiful" in the same category as love and friendship, which can come in many ways from many sources. And also: plenty of people go a lifetime without sex (for religious reasons) and they are considered "higher" not "lesser"?
