The way this non-autistic actress is physically mimicking the actions of actually autistic people is really disgusting… Disabled mimicry harms people. https://twitter.com/Sia/status/1329411673350942723 …

It does cause harm. When nondisabled actors play disabled roles it causes disabled people harm.

Yes, for example, people on this very thread here have stated that because of the representation of autistic people which is usually white, cis, and male, a lot of women and girls have struggled to get diagnosed as autistic. This has caused real barriers and harm.

Sure, I'm a woman on the spectrum and I definitely have experienced this myself. I don't see how this is connected to the idea that an actress portraying an autistic woman in a film is harming people by replicating some autistic behaviors. Could you give a more relevant example?

In my latest study Into disability representation there were only 14 autistic characters out of 708 disabled characters and both of the main characters were played by nondisabled actors. Autistic people are not even welcome to play themselves.

Is this proportional to the population? I also don't see why an actor should have anything in common with who they're portraying. I don't personally feel like I have any more right to act as an autistic woman than a neurotypical woman does.

Reason: a very specific sort of agent trying to get his niche to blow up to make some fat cash. Because he cares.
