like I loved sitting in the back of the car on a family road trip, looking out the window, just trying to wrap my mind around the idea that asking what came before the Big Bang is meaningless, because it's the beginning of time

I believed that time went on forever in *both*directions (past and future), and it was a favorite belief of mine that I revisited often to try to wrap my head around. I’m actually somewhat miffed at the idea time had a beginning but perhaps not an end, that sounds wrong.

I thought “God” - the sentient entity people debated the existence of - was an omniscient will that controlled everyone’s actions and movements. That sounded wrong. I was pretty sure I was controlling my actions and movements, not a separate omniscient force.
