Hotness is mostly a consequence of believing that you’re hot. It transcends physical attractiveness, which plays a much smaller role than people think.

acting like i believe i am desirable by them yes. this doesnt work nearly as well for people who aren't above a certain threshhold of hotness

as in; culturally there's *intense* mockery for unattractive people who behave outside their attractiveness ranking.
Claiming unearned status is a source of mockery in almost any sphere.

right, and 'believing youre hot makes you hot' only works if you're not claiming unearned status; i.e., if you are already hot enough to get social backing for claiming it.
