But when you get there then you can be freed from being motivated by those things because you made them conscious, you know better now, this is the point of jungian psychology (I think). Why would anyone keep a behaviour after they learned it's rooted in fear or insecurity?

eh, i find that people who love to admit their faults freely are people who don't ever improve themselves because we're supposed to admire how brave they are just to have self-refection they fuck up again and say "hey you knew i was a pos when you accepted me as i was—deal."

Not to mention the "conditional" modes of being we all have lying dormant in our genetics/brain such as BPD, sociopathy, and PTSD to name a few.

Perhaps to shamelessly indulge in the proclamation of one's own flaws, allows one to absolve themselves of responsibility for shortcomings, and therefore hindering the likelihood of learning. A form of mockery might act as a failsafe in this instance.
