Step 1: I'm not sending my 5 year old to in-person school this year. Step 2: Distance-learning is gonna be a mess; we'll do it ourselves this year. Step 3: Gotta read up on homeschooling strategies and methods **Quiet epiphany**:We're probably never sending our girls to school.

fuck yeah. school sucks ass. i was homeschooled and it's probably the childrearing decision i'm most grateful for.

Not disagreeing, but if you were homeschooled how do you know?

I went to public school for three months when I was fourteen and I was really shocked. I loved learning and all my interactions with formal schooling felt like active attempts to destroy my love of learning

(I was in public school until the 4th grade, and this was absolutely what I found, too. Most of my teachers hated me)

I lived overseas as a child, and was homeschooled for all of it. Was stateside in time for public high school, and it was shockingly awful. The educational culture shock was worse than what was felt from the actual move. Thankfully, my love of learning survived, but ugh.

hey remember how we went to school where we spent 8 hours a day for over a decade having what our bodies could do completely under the control of authority figures boy i wonder if that had any lasting effects

Also can confirm. Had alternating home and public schooling. Thrived on the homeschooling and the work-at-your-own-pace schooling, but withered in regular public school.
