I don’t get why ppl are upset when I compare a good thing with a bad thing - I’m not saying the morality of the action is equivalent, I’m saying that they’re made up of many components, and one of the components is similar. Bad things often have lots in common with good things!

To stop abortion, the answer isn't to ban sex, it's introducing things to prevent pregnancy. Nobody *wants* to have an abortion. To stop pedophilia, the answer isn't to ban experiencing those urges, it's introducing things to prevent offenses. Nobody *wants* to be a pedophile.

The abortion and pedophilia comparison doesn't gel. Pregnancy is a either/or state while pedophilia involves an always on urge/drive. Perhaps comparing it to the compulsion of addiction and the push for rehabilitation over punishment might've produced a bit better result.

You used pregnancy, specifically abortion, as a comparison. Existing ways to avoid pregnancy - abstaining, masturbating, surgery, or having sex in ways that can't result in pregnancy already exist for pedophiles to not act on their urges. What are you talking about introducing?

Support for pedophiles to help prevent them offending - a safe, nonjudgmental place where they can come and get help - therapy, chemical castration if they want, accountability, maybe nonharmful alternatives like sex dolls. Right now our cultural attitude is "don't do it u fuck"

Those remind of things like needle exchanges, injection sites, and treatment over prison for drug users. I agree that doing something to address the issue before there are victims is far better than whipping up a registry and pretending like we've solved the problem.
