Generally, I view conservative values as high-scarcity, survival-oriented; designed to help cultures thrive when pressure is high. Liberal values are low-scarcity, and help people thrive when pressure is low. We're privileged to be able to hold liberal values.

I don't think that necessarily follows (altho it might) due to unknown correlative effects; e.g., maybe poverty increases stress which increases domestic abuse

I mean as I said in a reply to her I had my beliefs on poverty --> crime challenged and I'm not sure I agree with it, but I *also* think your argument here is bad. To test that specifically we need to separate out other motivations; domestic assault would maybe be a better test

yeah ok i am down with testing it, i think that we might need better tests. I'd have to think about it really hard for a while, and I think the tests you suggest wouldn't work at face value, but I think we can design tests in that direction that would be good evidence yes.
