understanding someone means modeling them. people intuitively grasp that there is an element of contagion to this — that since we run software by altering hardware, to do this is to incorporate a shade of the other into oneself, making connections that are never fully unmade

I hate them because I understand them.
They are toxic, insecure cowards trying to express strength and assert control over a chaotic universe. Every vote is a vote to assert that they don’t have to worry because everything is fine if they just believe it hard enough.

No you don't understand them. You're looking at them through the tribal defensive lens. This is useful for something like war but it is absolutely not understanding. To understand means being able to describe the motivations as a trumper would.
Nonsense. I was telling people how this presidency was going to go in 2015, and why, and how his supporters would react, and I was right.
They are spiteful because they see the loss of privilege as an attack. It’s the endowment effect for civil rights.
