Generally, I view conservative values as high-scarcity, survival-oriented; designed to help cultures thrive when pressure is high. Liberal values are low-scarcity, and help people thrive when pressure is low. We're privileged to be able to hold liberal values.

It is privileged to think people should have access to health care without paying for it. In high pressure societies there's not a ton of excess to be able to outright care for each other to that degree.

Sure, but I'm saying if you're coming from a place of low scarcity, you had to develop intense self reliant values to survive, and it seems unlikely you're gonna suddenly abandon those hard-earned values when asked to vote on healthcare for everyone else

We do pay for health care. ‘Free at the point of use’ isn’t actually “free”. That is what tax is for. We also pay for education and roads and other infrastructure the same way. It’s an investment that benefits everyone. It’s basic stuff and avoids other forms of expenditure.

If the US quit pissing a small fortune into the profits of insurance companies you probably could afford to care for a lot more citizens, enabling them to become more economically active. Extreme privatisation is expensive and inefficient.
