is a tweet a thought or an action?
in social media world, the lines are blurred. hence action, speech and thought get intertwined

Put another way, the Right is confident that God will punish your sinful thoughts accordingly, and the Left thinks it’s God.

Policing thoughts is worse, IMO, because eventually steers people into allowing their actions to be policed. Reaction to immediate policing of actions tends to create free-thinking defiance.

In an ideal world both are stupid. In the real world, actions should be policed, not thoughts.
"I want to kill someone" vs "I am actually, physically killing someone".
You need to police the latter. Whether "killing" is a crime worth policing is decided by society/natural law.
