It also indicates that there's some deep wrong in the world if two people aren't on the same level of outcome, which seems like it ties your happiness to others which seems terrible for mental health

I mean, surely if you push this concept to the limit it can get eerie in various ways, yet there seems to be a set of very fundamental provisions that governments worlwide have been able to carry out effectively, and that should not be taken for granted. Healthcare is a big one.

The ending is a non sequitur. Equal opportunity does not mean equal outcomes. Individual and subcultural differences exist that drive differences in outcomes. Some subcultures emphasize education, law abidance, work ethic, and more supportive family structures more than others.

Equity as given in every illustration I’ve seen is oversimplified and easy to grasp. Human inequality is such a deeply complex issue it’s not possible to have broad spectrum equity across the population. How does one assess how disenfranchised a group has been compared to others?

This visual is false. An authority forces the first guy to wear weights or a mob stops him with violence. Neither person reaches the summit. They are too hungry or too busy fighting.
