Never driven for either of them so ignore this completely, but I think it depends a lot on if Uber/Lyft are you primary income or supplemental income.

I chose "independent contractor" because that's what my preference has been whenever I've worked a job like this, but my true preference is to be given a choice of classification. I see no reason this should have to be decided universally for all drivers.
