I know a lot of people who’ve suffered severe psychosis and had to be hospitalised, even for many months, but it wasn’t permanent so I voted no. Was that right?

This is correct! If the psychosis decreased in severity but still persisted low-grade, then 'yes' would be correct in that scenario.

Ah, hm, I think that’s tricky because a lot of people I know with psychosis still sometimes hear voices but realise they’re not “real” or still have bouts of paranoia but help to get out of it. Depressive symptoms/withdrawing yourself as also psychotic symptoms too in folk w that
