I came here expecting to see a bump in the 60s and 70s and can't help but wonder if they deliberately cut the graph where they did

I thought the exact same thing. Tim Pool talked about this graph but didn't bring up the 60's Vietnam turmoil. A president resigned during a political scandal in the 70's. It definitely would of spiked.

Here is Turchin himself with a graph going back into the 60s and 70s. It shows the PSI being elevated but much more mildly than today:

Well, here's a snapshot from a grant proposal that we have just submitted to a European funder. I don't know if this is going to be helpful, because I can't share the rest of the proposal. But the forecast is that 2020 is not the end.
