I was thinking about something similar today, but more about how the idea of "narrative" affects the actual experience of sex. Ex: sex-as-play vs sex-as-experimentation vs sex-as-union etc. I'm not certain anymore these are even meaningfully the "same" thing...

It is strange that sex isn't known to have the same stylistic variety as dance. How many types of dance do we recognize? Hundreds? Flamenco, ballroom, tango, trap.... One time I bartended a sex party and saw people go at it in the same repetitive way, partner after partner.
