this argument doesn't feel super convincing for me, can you empathize with my perspective? The nuclear family is pretty innovative and i think a solid argument can be made that it's failing kids in a lot of ways.

I think the point stands for extended families as well. I think the distinction between genetic investment and no genetic investment is huge here. Like, grandma is grandma, and she’s committed to the kids. But Chris, that you’ve known for 2 months may be less dedicated.
