There's lots of ways partners attempt to restrict each other's behavior that's *not* condoned by society, and it feels sort of weird to me that in a post-birth-control era, we're okay with partners controlling each other's sexuality.

true, but poly people have a really good handle on this - it's very common to find fluid bonding agreements in poly relationships, very similar to pandemic quarantine bubble arrangements!

lots of poly people are in polycules, e.g., groups of 3-4 who have sex with only each other, and if someone has sex with a new person they have to check out the risk status of that person, or have ppl get STD tests before resuming unprotected sex.
