imo life is a spectrum, not binary. There's not really good cutoffs in spectrums, but we do know that one end is "almost not at all like a life" and the other end is "very much like a life". Im personally ok with ending things that are almost not at all like a life

My problem with this argument: if you're admitting it's difficult to tell what has full personhood, would the moral thing to do not be to err on the side of caution and not destroy things that could very well be a person?

I don't really think 'personhood' is a coherent concept if we're probing at the edges like this - can we replace that word with a more concrete description?

I use it to mean X's life is morally significant, i.e. only a tiny few people think it's wrong to kill a blade of grass or an ant, even though those things are alive What grants moral significance would of course be up for debate - intelligence? humanness? ability to feel?
