At night when I have difficulty sleeping, I imagine times I've been on a plane in a tiny middle seat for ten hours and desperately trying to sleep but couldn't cause I was so vertical and uncomfortable and how I'd fantasize about lying down. Then I feel grateful and fall asleep.

I sure wish this kind of thing would work for me... usually it just leads to cold sweat night terrors but super glad it works for you.

I do that too!!
I even do it on nights I'm not suffering insomnia.
I stretch all the way out, rejoice in the vastness of the bed, then curl on my side and purr like a kitten.

When I flew to China I did not sleep on flight.
I did not sleep for over 24 hours.
Good luck. I got no advice.

I do this too, but by thinking about my desk at an old job where I always wanted to take a nap at 3:00.

Reminds me of Victor Frankl's "paradoxical intent" - can't fall asleep? play a game with yourself to see how long you can stay awake.

I often think about being drunk and in the cold walking in uncomfortable shoes and really tired and just wanting to be home. Feel super grateful
