an @okcupid match question, obviously meant for signalling rather than genuinely asking people their relationship to racial inequality. Absolutely horrific question design regardless of your political stance!pic.twitter.com/CgzuiK1UOT

that seems to be a fairly common malady
maybe those questions are just to kinda soften ppl up for more important questions by distracting them
don't they let people generate their own questions? so technically someone had to actually right these looking for a potential mate in mind...
They had that feature many years ago, but like all the fun stuff it got removed
Questions are/were user submitted so it is very slanted towards signalling rather than meaningful connection.
I used to think I was the only one who questioned the validity of their surveys...used to drive me crazy when I was on OkC
Don't answer those questions. Make sure you only mark a few super important.
Given this it's actually kind of hilarious how good match percentage is as an indicator of compatibility.
having trouble parsing this-- are you saying match % *is* a good indicator?
@asglidden and i had like 97% compatibility on there, iirc we were each others' top matches.... god was it *globally*?
Their questions have changed in the last few years, gotten much more political/divisive. It's like they assume everyone dating has principles that are strict dichotomies and they would never date anyone who disagrees with them.
