Laws change every legislative session, lawyers don't always keep up. He may have been citing an older version of that code. Or the language just may be obtuse af. I'd ask him about it, and see what he says. If he's defensive, I'd drop him and go get a second opinion.

Depends how far off it is. You could have wrong code or if code is right, it could be interpreted legally outside clear meaning of words to a normal person.

Everything folks have said on here is possible: he could be mistaken, you could be looking at the wrong thing (for many reasons) or it could just be confusing to a non-expert (even a lawyer who doesn't know this field). If it's a serious enough issue, definitely worth clarifying
