Why do African immigrants do better in the US than African Americans? I'm trying to find sources for income/educational attainment of immigrants *when they come over*, but am only finding sources of *what they have today*.

Raised in a different culture. Less exposure to feminist activists and campaigns is my guess

I've heard a theory that might be related: immigrants are often the ones who can afford to migrate, thus selected for wealth and ability. But i've heard of that relating to asians migrating to US, not africans.

"Black" is a very broad category. The particular people who are migrating from Africa to the USA today are not identical to the US slave-origin "Black" population.

Strongly suggests being black's no longer a severe impediment to success in the US. Slave-decended blacks should learn from immigrant blacks & emulate their success. More striving, less griping.

there is nothing strange when you account for the extreme selection bias

I think it’s worth looking at Vietnamese refugees. Can’t say it’s selective bias.

I believe the American dream that hard work will reap a greater reward is alive and well, in the hearts of immigrants. It was for our families in the past. Many born here assume they just get the rewards because they were born here w/o the hard work.

Is it just me or does this data sound like bullshit? US white women for everything I saw made more than 27k In 2010 granted it didn't clarify if they were American born. It still sounds off
