I wouldn't say I'm part of the "fandom" but I thoroughly enjoy my mechanical keyboard. Partially due to nostalgia, but I've found mine incredibly reliable and responsive. Als, the backlight is super useful for nighttime writing when I don't want to put on the overhead.

why the HELL is all keyboard fandom obsessed with mechanical keyboards, the literal worst keyboard possible if you actually tYPE w/ normal HUMAN MOTIVATIONS. every damn forum is infested with weak-knuckled mechanical keyboard doofus fanboys droolin over fancy lights and CLACKING

Ha! I can't say I've ever been part of "keyboard discourse" (though I did once work w/someone who built his own keyboard). My sense is people who invest time/money/energy into hardware has a vested interest in proselytizing. I see it w/tech and w/music gear
