AMA about Onlyfans - anything around the psychology behind its high demand and success! I've been in various forms of sex work for 8 years, and am currently extremely successful on Onlyfans (recently peaked at 0.03% top earners). I'll answer as many questions as I can.

why pay for only fans when sexual images of all sorts are abundant and free? do customers think they're buying some sort of real intimacy with a person they will never meet? I don't get it.

You might masturbate to hardcore porn, but sexual tension with a friend might end up being more arousing. Context is really important; the closer you are to a person, the more direct interaction you have, often the more arousing the experience can be.

I appreciate the answer. I get that interaction can be attractive, but at the same time, I feel it creates an illusion of false intimacy. This distracts from the potential to get intimacy IRL by doing the work of making yourself attractive to women.

I often find it analagous to therapy. With therapy, you're paying a stranger to be interested in you, listen to your vulnerable life story. Do they 'really' care? Maybe not? You are aware the relationship is professional, but you still get benefit out of the intimacy.

therapy is or should be self-limiting and find a direction out (granted that some forms don’t). OF supplies a long term need with no route to making things work better for the customer offline.
