My issue with it is the 2nd statement: "...did not reflect my views...". Like a costume necessarily being a coherent expression of views isn't a major category error. I can understand apologizing for insensitivity, but to accede it as an overtly oppressive act...

I think my sentiment is something like "i cannot imagine the world being a significantly less racist place just if nobody had ever done an inappropriate costume in the last 3 decades". Like, I just don't think inappropriate-costume-wearers are grinding the main gears of racism
