Babies aren't really assigned a gender at birth. Their biological sex is recorded on their birth certificate. I would say gender is taught to you by your parents, siblings, teachers, peers, i.e. society. In other words, we're taught which norms correspond with our biological sex.

If you truly feel like you don't align yourself w/ the gender assigned to you at birth then hey, maybe you are trans
it's all up to you! Some value labels, some reject it, some do their own thing, so its confusing but also makes sense since gender+dentity are so deeply personal! -
It's confusing because while I might be trans by that definition, nothing else around trans messaging is anything I identify with. I present female, I am fine with people treating me as female, I have zero desire to have 'being trans' change how I'm treated.
