Self described empaths are weird because they have a strong self image and expect you to view them as they inform you how you should view them. There's no room for your experience of them in this; they expect you to cooberate their view without question, kinda like gender.

I think empaths are just one example of this. When I was younger I was accused of black magic by a group of otherkin and they expected I would go along with their interpretation of this even though: lol what?

They knew they were right because they were "experienced energy workers" and I wasn't allowed to contradict their self-image and thus their absolutely lol view of reality.

It's funny. In my experience I've found a large amount of those who put forward an image of being overly empathic are the quickest to lie to my face and stab me in the back. I tend to trust those more direct and blunt much easier as a result.

Cooberate, I googled that, but, other than that, that's spot on description of how most (I think) feel about empaths inside their heart but can't articulate or just can't see

I think you just stumbled upon the fact that
"self described/identified _____" is typically always going to evoke the same type of scenario.
At least in self-conscious people.. their self-identify is reliant on your validation. Yikes.

I'm actually curious to know what a conversation between you and an empath was like.
(I'm asking, because what you are describing sounds like a narcissist, and I would like to avoid them, and being one myself.)
