I have spend my life as a committed Leftist (not in the USA) and this kind of bullshit liberal activism pisses me off as well. Its all about appearance or about jobs for middle class members of minorities not improving life for most people.

This is because people still think the news that is presented to them is believable Most articles include opinion as fact. We don't have many journalists any more -- just mouth pieces for the party they subscribe to :/ ...and it's "our" fault for accepting it.

It changes the incentives of which stories to tell. For example, a historically accurate movie about medieval Europe is less likely to get funding since it's less likely to secure awards.
