I have been poor my whole life, my parents were poor, and I have just finally started making more than 400k a year after tons of high risk hard work. The thought Biden wants to punish me for this is infuriating. I worked so hard for this. I'm already paying nearly 50% in taxes!!

It feels like punishment - if I do x, (earn over a certain amount) a bad thing happens (a higher % of my money is taken away from me), and this was deliberately instituted by someone.
You know he checked income populations to make sure 400k limit wouldn't impact votes too much

If that's your single issue, don't vote for him then. I'll gladly pay more taxes if it contributes to the greater good and helps less-advantaged fellow Americans prosper. And I'll definitely gladly pay more taxes if it means ridding this nation of the stain that is Trump

How does any1 who earns 400K/yr sleep at night knowing that so many suffer?
We make a healthy income, have all that we need or want, give to those who need help, foster rescue dogs, help our kids out & pay a high %in taxes.
I don't feel punished. I feel lucky.

that's great if you feel lucky. If you like paying taxes and think that it's good, then go for it! But I draw the line at when people start thinking *I* should pay taxes too when I don't think it's good, I don't support what the government does, and I absolutely do not consent.

Your consent is irrelevant. You couldn't make $400K without the government's help. Do you use roads, the internet or the postal service in your business? Gov't backed loans? Keep your $$ in an FDIC account? Ever fly on a plane that uses fed. air traffic control?

I would rather pay directly to companies that do those things instead of into a nebulous government. I'd rather pay much more for roads/internet/postal service and have 0% taxes.
Understandable - but what about the people who can’t afford to pay for those things separately? Consider just the infrastructure that has to be supported.
