Joe Biden wants to raise taxes on 82% of all Americans.

It's not punishment. But congrats on your success

It feels like punishment - if I do x, (earn over a certain amount) a bad thing happens (a higher % of my money is taken away from me), and this was deliberately instituted by someone. You know he checked income populations to make sure 400k limit wouldn't impact votes too much

His plan is ridiculous, imagine trying to give unemployed people who don’t want to work more money from the rich, I’d go unemployed in a heartbeat I guess and so would many others! Taxing even higher is crazy

Your parents weren’t poor. I just read one of your posts that said they made too much for you to qualify for financial aid at college. If that’s true - you don’t know poor.
-
yeah, around 60-80k (through my dad building his own business), but almost all of that was funneled straight into my dad's student loans which he hadn't paid when he was young, and they didn't have enough left over for me to help for college.

2.6% more for every dollar over $400k. Hardly backbreaking and a full +30% lower than it was through the 40s, 50s, 60s, & 70spic.twitter.com/G3g9LcA0q8

Look at it this way, you’ve been poor your whole life which means you’ve paid no, or very little, taxes. Now it’s your turn to contribute.

"I'm already paying nearly 50% in taxes!!" Which means you have a cool $200k a year left over, which still puts you in the top 10% of earners in the country. Sounds like you're doing fine.
-
Also they would be paying 50% on a certain amount of money, so they'd make well over 200k
