The trans trend (no disrespect, just empirically it’s trending) is probably due, in part, to the declining monagamy norm. As the sexually liberal mating economy creates winner-take-all dynamics, more biological males hate being male. Add female empowerment norms, & voila.

Wait I think you're partially right but I'm not convinced - it doesn't seem obvious to me that sexual liberalism post birth control results in winner take all economies. I think the lack of war/manual labor/roles for men is a more obvious reason.

Yeah but this doesn't necessarily mean this translates. I've been in large, near-exclusively-poly communities before and it didn't translate; the hottest men would have mostly just a few girlfriends (and the hottest women a few boyfriends), but not 80% of them

Yea I think the investment required for a poly relationship would keep the distribution somewhat more equal. A lower investment hook up strategy could have truly staggering inequality

Revealed preferences don't percectly translate into the real world, but I'd prefer to have a girlfriend who wasn't potentially always on the hunt for a Bigger, Better, Deal.
